Teacher trainer science and technology in international education

What will you do
As a teacher trainer of science and technology in international education, you will play a key role in shaping future teachers at our Meppel campus. You will be responsible for planning, delivering, and reviewing learning sessions, including teaching in the Science and Technology minor and content courses for both primary and secondary pre-service teachers. This requires strong subject knowledge in science—physics, chemistry, and biology—alongside expertise in technology and its application in education.
Beyond teaching, we seek an entrepreneurial and innovative educator who actively contributes to the operation, maintenance, and further development of the ITE Fablab. You will integrate scientific concepts with technological tools, ensuring students gain both theoretical understanding and hands-on experience.
We are looking for a candidate who can forge strong connections with the regional and international field, bringing in relevant expertise and opportunities for collaboration. This role requires a proactive approach in building and maintaining partnerships, both within our institution and with external stakeholders, to enhance learning experiences and drive innovation in teacher education.
This position also involves supervising students—both online and onsite—during their internships at international schools worldwide. Beyond teaching, you will be actively involved in curriculum development and collaborating with colleagues to ensure our programmes remain at the forefront of innovative developments in international education.

Where will you be working
We offer high-quality, distinctive programs in International Teacher Education (ITE). Our ITE programs prepare students for careers in international schools through bachelor’s courses in primary education (ITEPS) and secondary education (ITESS), as well as a specialized ITE track within the Master's in Learning & Innovation (MITE).

What is required
To be considered for this position, we ask that you meet the following requirements:

• a master's degree connected to the STEAM field and/or education
• experience teaching in international primary and/or secondary schools, with strong pedagogy and didactic skills
• experience or a strong affinity for science and technology
• extensive experience in interdisciplinary teaching and learning in the context of science and technology
• is familiar with international curricula such as IB-PYP/MYP, English National Curriculum, IMYC/IPC, or American Common Core
• a strong interest in current developments and innovation in international education, particularly in the didactics of science and technology
• expertise in curriculum development for pre-service and in-service teachers
• experience in supporting the professional development of students and teachers with diverse educational and cultural backgrounds
• dedication to research-based practice and awareness of the intricacies of working within a multilingual and intercultural environment
• fluency in academic English

Additionally:

• Depending on your knowledge and experience, the salary is a maximum of 6.359,47 (scale 11 Collective Labour Agreement for higher professional education) gross per month for a full-time position, excluding 8% holiday allowance and 8.3% end-of-year bonus.
• This is a structural position, and the contract is initially for one year.
• Your normal place of work is in Meppel, but you must be willing to travel if the job requires it.
